Official Catalan language certificates

The Catalan universities award Catalan language certificates to learners within the language services who can demonstrate the knowledge required for each level (initial, basic, elementary, intermediate, competence, competence for teaching and research staff, advanced).

The CIFOLC is an interuniversity commission that encompasses the language services of the twelve Catalan universities: the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, the University of Girona, the University of Lleida, the Open University of Catalonia, the Technical University of Catalonia, Pompeu Fabra University, Rovira I Virgili University, the University of Vic, Ramon Llull University, the International University of Catalonia and Abat Oliba University CEU. The CIFOLC's purpose is to coordinate these language services in regard to matters related to the teaching and learning of the Catalan language at university level.

The CIFOLC oversees the processing of the Catalan language certificates awarded by the universities of Catalonia and which are officially recognised as being of the same level as the reference certificates of the Directorate General for Language Policy (DGPL) of the Government of Catalonia. The links below will take you to detailed information on each of the tests, along with a model exam.

For further information on Catalan language certificates, visit the CIFOLC and DGPL websites.
